Flamborough Lighthouse
In 1669 the first lighthouse was built on Flamborough Headland, but was never lit. A new lighthouse was built in 1806 and marks the Flamborough Headland for ships heading to Scarborough and Bridlington. The lighthouse has gone through many changes over the years, including becoming fully automated in 1996 and the installation of more ecofriendly LEDs in more recent years. Don’t worry though the original optics are still available to view at the bottom of the lighthouse. With tickets a reasonable price it’s well worth a day out, and don’t forget the fish & chips from Lighthouse Fisheries in the village.
